Head of Prod. Management/ Product Marketing

Position Purpose:

  • As Head of Product Management, Development and Marketing you will be responsible for the commercial
  • performance of the company products. You will achieve this by contributing and implementing to the strategy and roadmap for current and new products.
  • You will ensure these products can compete successfully in a highly competitive market by developing and implementing high impact marketing campaigns for direct and indirect customers across all market segments.
  • You will be expected to directly contribute to the performance of the business, taking on critical challenges and contributing to the overall strategy and success of our product and service portfolio.

Experience & Qualifications:

Minimum Qualification:

  • Tertiary qualification or relevant marketing degree/diploma (B Comm. IMM GSM etc.) recommended
  • Relevant Networking qualification would be preferable

 

Minimum Experience

  • 8 years’ experience in product development, marketing and deployment in the telecommunications industry essential

Other Requirements

  • Own transport
  • Willing and able to travel internationally, if required

IDENTIFY NEW PRODUCTS

Tasks

  • Identify opportunities for introduction of new product from current customers, new customers or any other sources, such as trade shows
  • Assess the market size and the sales of major competitors for any identified new products
  • Establish and maintain excellent collaborative relationships with suppliers

KPI’s 

  • Achieve agreed revenue and margin
  • Accurate market research
  • Creation of strategic alliances and partnerships

Tracking Report/ BI Tool

  • SWOT analysis

 

 

BRING NEW EXISTING PRODUCTS TO MARKET

Tasks

  • Identify opportunities in new regions/ geographies for existing products
  • Assist in the development of marketing strategy for new products, in the line with company objectives
  • Work with supply chain to ensure that vendor product matches the company product.

KPI’s 

  • Growth in product line revenue
  • Successful launch of new products
  • Documented marketing plan, working in conjunction with Exco
  • Effective, prompt resolution of issues

 

MAINTAIN PRODUCT COLLATERAL

Tasks

  • Prepare and update product material, including technical specifications
  • Provide the unique selling proposition of the products, with comparisons to major competitors and alternative products
  • Provide product related support for any new product launch campaign

  • Provide accurate product knowledge to the business

NEW PRODUCT/ MARKET PROFITABILITY

Tasks

  • Ensure increased ratio of sales of new products and existing products in new as a % of total sales
  • Regularly conduct profitability analysis and recommended product addition
  • Determine optimal costing of new products

  • Achieve forecast unit sales

INTERFACE BETWEEN SALES AND TECHNICAL

Tasks

  • Ensure effective communication between all stakeholders
  • Address customer technical queries and complaints
  • Fill technical templates for customers.
  • Provide product related training to the company and Customer’s salespeople
  • Drive awareness of products to customers at industry events and across all channels

  • Accurate dissemination of information

Competency requirements for position

KNOWLEDGE

  • Sound knowledge of networks in the telecommunications industry (MPLS, Internet, Ethernet)
  • Sound Knowledge of Software Defined technologies
  • Sound Knowledge of marketing principles and pricing strategies
  • Excellent business acumen (i.e. numeracy skills, generation of profit and loss, cash flow, margin)
