General Manager

Role:

To manage and lead the company to maximize profitability, maintain operational standards, ensure excellent customer service and compliance with the relevant Acts..

Educational Requirement:

  • Matric or equivalent
  • Related post-graduate qualifications

 Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a warehouse / retail environment
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a management role
  • Relevant computer experience, specifically Excel
  • Relevant food and wholesale experience
  • Packaging experience will be an advantage

Operational requirements

 Delivery Methodology:

  • Execute daily tasks and work instructions according to relevant Procedures and instruction from the Executives.

 Budgets

  • Achieve and exceed all financial budgets – Budgets achieved

Finance and Administration

  • Comply with all relevant management reporting processes – Adherence to reporting processes
  • Manage all the financial procedures of the company – Financial procedures effectively managed
  • Maintain correct and competitive pricing and ensure that an acceptable Gross Profit percentage is managed & achieved – Gross Profit % achieved
  • Ensure all outstanding Debtors / Accounts are recovered timeously & review and authorize all transactions reflected on the bank statements plus review and authorize creditor payments – Working to required financial procedures
  • Interpret management reports, review monthly management accounts, comment on variances & take relevant action – Working to required financial procedures
  • Consistently monitor warehousing, product, labour costs and pricing, ensuring departmental projections and budgets are adhered to – Budgets & projections adhered to

Operations & Customer Care

  • Ensure all operational standards are implemented and maintained at the company as required by the Company – Adherence to operational standards
  • Comply with all relevant checklists & evaluations as set out by the Company and ensure audit compliance pertaining to the business in which the company operates – Complies with evaluations & ensures audit compliance
  • Interface with customers & clients, resolve queries and complaints and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction – Ensures customer satisfaction
  • Ensure stock takes take place on a weekly, monthly & quarterly basis and ensure all company procedures are followed, and shrinkage controlled. – Ensures stock control effectively managed
  • Ensure Warehouse Manager oversees the safe receipt, storage, retrieval and timely dispatch of goods – Ensures warehouse effectively managed
  • Ensure productivity targets are met and computerized administration and automated storage and retrieval systems are maintained – Ensures productivity targets met & systems maintained
  • Ensure maintenance procedures are efficiently carried out and adherence to the required maintenance schedules and warehouse standards – Ensures maintenance procedures adhered to

Staff Management

  • Oversee that all staff’s time and attendance is monitored and controlled – Ensures staff’s time & attendance managed
  • Manage staffs’ performance standards and adhere to company timeframes for performance management – Manage staff’s performance
  • Ensure staff developed, training needs identified, and relevant training implemented in liaison with the Group HR Manager – Ensures staff developed
  • Interview and hire applicants when vacancies arise – Ensures adherence to recruitment practices
  • Ensure all staff adhere to company’s disciplinary code and procedures – Ensures adherence to all HR procedures
  • Ensure all related salary & wage information is being submitted to relevant payroll administrators by the due dates – Ensures on-time delivery

 Health & Safety

  • Ensure appointed Health & Safety Officer complies with all safety standards and regulations – SHE & emergency procedures adhered to
  • Ensure all staff are knowledgeable of the warehouse’s emergency procedures, where all emergency shut-offs and exits are located and assist customers when necessary in case of an emergency – All relevant training conducted
  • Ensure management facilitate all emergency response training and health and safety training for all relevant staff – SHE procedures adhered to
  • Ensure that the company is a safe, clean and healthy environment at all times
  • Carry out any duty or requirement imposed on the company by the Occupational, Health & Safety (OHS) Act – Adherence to Govt. regulations
  • Report any unsafe or unhealthy situations to Executives – On time reporting
  • Ensure that the requirements of the OHS Act are complied with by all team members – Adherence to SHE procedures

General

  • Perform and carry out any other ad hoc duties as and when required by executives – Working to company procedures & standards
  • Liaise with different personnel, as is required, to prevent delays and on-time delivery – Good communication skills
  • Ensure high quality standards of work are adhered to at all times – Quality standards adhered to
