Position Purpose:

 

The purpose of this role is to oversee the development and implementation of an IT strategy, operating model and systems for the IT function within the company. This will include the development of digital technology and data strategies, achieved by adapting acceptable practice, processes, and architectural design in service of the business unit strategy.

 

Experience & Qualifications:

 

  • Relevant IT degree or honours degree
  • At least 8 years relevant management experience
  • Project management skills
  • Life or non-life insurance industry knowledge will be advantageous
  • Knowledge of IT architecture, infrastructure or platforms
  • Experience in business analysis, business architecture or business consulting
  • Knowledge of internal and external IT environment

 

Responsibilities:

 

Perspective: Process

  • Support the chief operating officer in analyzing the existing group strategy
  • Identify further strategic initiatives and business capability requirements and deliver a digital technology and data strategy plan to deliver sound IT strategy strongly underpinned by digital technology and a data strategy plan to deliver on the strategic business outcomes
  • Align the digital technology and data strategies to the Group strategy
  • Develop a digital technology and data operational plan
  • Develop appropriate architectural models
  • Own and account for the IT operating model, practice, processes and service delivery for the business unit
  • Own and account for the design, development and successful implementation of data technologies line of business and ancillary systems
  • Own and account for the transfer of data from its internal or external systems to its new systems
  • Participate in wide relevant strategic and technology practice forums

 

Perspective : Finance

  • Ensure effective financial management and corporate governance for IT budgets
  • Control the budget for a range of functional area accounts, including the authorisation of expenditures and implementation of financial regulations
  • Provide input on income and expenditure budgeting to prepare financial forecasts
  • Identify and influence the management of business IT risks

 

Perspective : Client Services

  • Liaison with stakeholders, heads of operations, specialists, service providers and business clients to ensure effective and efficient process delivery and client satisfaction to all
  • Contribute to a service culture which build rewarding relationships, proposes innovations and allows others to provide exceptional client service
  • Continuously assess the quality of client satisfaction and service delivery
  • The establishment and maintenance of a high level of a culture of organisational co-operation in order to ensure a professional service delivery
  • Contribute to the competitive edge of IT through external networking and benchmarking in Industry and National Forums
  • The building and maintenance of an internal network of relationships with business management in the business support hub, infrastructure and operations services and other relevant areas
  • Liaison with stakeholders, operations executives, specialists and other functional owners
  • Ensure satisfactory delivery of Service Level Agreements

  • Provide an efficient and informative mentoring or coaching function. Active resource planning incorporating all HR practices
  • Compile succession plans for key positions and kills
  • Ensures optimal performance of both individuals and teams in order to achieve business objectives
